Yields about 1 liter
1 kg apples
150 ml (1.5 dl) water
20 g Hermesetas Granulated Sweetener or
3 Tsp liquid Hermesetas
1 Tbs thickener for jams
1 lemon, juice
1 vanilla bean, seeds (optional)
Peel, halve and core the apples. Cut halves into wedges and then into pieces. Place fruit in a pan. Moisten with water. Add Hermesetas, thickener, lemon juice and vanilla seeds. Bring to a boil stirring continuously. Simmer until the mixture is very tender and compote-like.
Fill into glasses and seal immediately.
Stewed Pears:
For stewed pears proceed in the same manner.
Substitute the vanilla with 1 stick cinnamon.
